CSR PROFILE BOOK Questionnaire 1. How does the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility correspond with the mission and heritage of your company? Since its founding in the 1920s, Hilton Hotels have always been actively involved in the social life of their locations. Crucial elements of our philosophy are the protection of nature, strict following of all kinds of safety regulations to protect people and investments, investment in - and training of employees, support of the cultural life, support of social institutions etc. All this applies strongly as well for Hilton Sofia. CSR CATEGORIES 2. What is your company's CSR involvement with the COMMUNITY? - Playing an active role in the cultural and social development of the community. - Support of social institutions like Psychological Center for Research, Breast Cancer Campaign - Involvement in charity events for orphans - Donations for staff of other Hilton hotels in need (i.e. Dresden and Prague after the devastating floods in 2002) 3. What is your company's CSR involvement with the ENVIRONMENT? - Pro-active energy saving at broad scale through lighting programs, chiller operation control, water timer control, proper monitoring of A/C, electricity and water systems, automatic outside temperature control for heating - Voluntarily cleaning of surrounding areas, mainly Yuzhen Park - Increase of environmental awareness of guests in regards to washing of bathroom linen - Separation of waste - Separate drainage for rain and waste water, to possibly gather rain water in future and use it - drilling well for watering of the garden (no treated city water used) 4. What is your company's CSR attitude towards your EMPLOYEES? - Constant investment in employees (Team members, TM’s) and thus active participation in the development of educational and living standards in Bulgaria - Maintaining of a positive atmosphere in the hotel through specially designed TM recognition and motivation programs (Esprit and Equilibrium), including annual TM opinion survey. - Visible recognition of TM’s for rendering excellent services to guests and colleagues, creating so called Hilton Moments for others. Honored during award ceremonies, financially with starbonds (BGN 20 net), team outings, and team buildings, to make Hilton Sofia a preferred working place. - Long-term Service Awards (5 years, 10 years etc.) - Special discount policy for Hilton TM’s for using hotel facilities as well as staying at Hilton properties outside Bulgaria. - Friendly-decorated Team Restaurant providing free of charge meals and regular organization of food promotions, incorporating Relaxation and Knowledge corner with free internet access. - Fully state of the art equipped Training Room, purely used for internal trainings - Distribution of internal and worldwide company newsletters, information on internal and international career opportunities for TM’s. - On-the-job and off-the-job training programmes for all departments. 5. What is your company's CSR involvement with YOUNG PEOPLE and EDUCATION? - As a medium sized employer we actively support various educational institutions (e.g. Intl. University, University of National & World Economy, Tourism College in Albena, Tourism School in Bankia etc.) by offering trainee programs, lectures and also individual financial support - Internal promotions, transfers and cross exposures - Conduction of various trainings - Fast-track program “Elevator” for developing further management potentials 6. What is your company's practice of BUSINESS ETHICS? - Our company does not have a special code of ethics, as it is our common understanding that all laws and regulations are binding to everyone involved. - We do business only with partners and companies, which comply consequently to all domestic and international applicable rules and regulations. - Moral in all business affairs and especially in any kind of relation between people has the highest possible priority in all our endeavors.
